  urban areas.
• More than half of all sonographers work in hospitals and the rest are employed in physicians’ offices and clinics specializing in obstetrics and in diagnostic imaging
  centers.
• Further advancement in the profession includes opportunities in education and
  commercial employment with major manufacturers.
