| MEDICAL STUDENT CLERKSHIP |

| The Surgery Core Clerkship is a twelve--week clerkship for third year medical students enrolled in the Drew/UCLA Medical education program. The rotation is divided into 6-weeks of General Surgery at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and 6-weeks of Sub-Specialties (one week each of Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology and Urology at King Drew Medical Center. The clerkship consists of a series of clinical experiences both in the inpatient and ambulatory care settings. Skills in the clinical evaluation of patients who present with Surgical issues are taught and eventual proficiency in these areas documented. The twelve-week rotation is followed by tutorials and an in-house examination. A combined grade for the General Surgery and Surgical Subspecialties components is complied by the Clerkship Director at the conclusion of the clerkship and its various components. |
