About Us
The mission of the Department of Orthopedics of the Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science parallels the University’s unique mission “To conduct orthopedic education and research
in the context of service to a defined population, so as to train physicians and allied health professionals to provide care with excellence and compassion to this and other underserved populations”.
Objectives
The objectives of our Orthopedic Department are to:
Provide comprehensive care to patients with problems and/or injuries related to the musculoskeletal system
Provide the appropriate excellent ongoing education and training to the Orthopedic residents rotating residents from other services, non M.D. medical providers, medical and allied health students and the ancillary staff in the art, practice and delivery of Orthopedic Surgery
Provide the appropriate documentation and recordkeeping of all matters necessary to run the Orthopedic Department
Provide a comprehensive Quality and Utilization Assurance Program to ensure the efficiency and quality of the services provided
Provide a continuing clinical research program to study, report on and publish information regarding orthopedic pathology and findings, which affect our community
Act in a leadership capacity in the academic community in our area of expertise
