Richard D. Leathers, Associate Professor I – Career Academic Series, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry. Dr. Leathers matriculated through California State University at Los Angeles from 1970-1974. He received his DDS degree in 1978 from Howard University, School of Dentistry. Dr. Leathers completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency and General Dentistry Internship here at Drew University in 1982 and 1979, respectively. He became Board certified in 1987 by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and in 2002 by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. |

Dr. Leathers serves as a consultant for the Commission on Dental Accreditation for the American Dental Association, a General Anesthesia Permit Evaluator for the California State Board of Dental Examiners as well as a member of the examination committee for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Leathers maintains professional affiliations with the following organizations: American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; National Dental Association; American Dental Society of Anesthesiology; Angel City Dental Society; Southern California Academy of Oral Pathology; American Dental Society; Los Angeles Dental Society. |

Dr. Leathers has been associated with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for approximately 18 years, and currently serves as Director for the Advanced Educational Training Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. |
