Vision
The vision of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is to be the premier academic department in oral health, internationally recognized for excellence in education and research, particularly in the context of providing oral health services and promoting improvements in the health and general well being of traditionally underserved communities. |

Mission
The mission of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is to provide dental and dental specialty services of the highest quality to patients within the setting of an acute care teaching hospital and its affiliated community-based comprehensive health centers. The Department supports the education and research goals of the medical school in its mission to prepare a cadre of health practitioners who are experienced in the advanced practice of primary dental care and who are able and committed to meet the health manpower needs in medically underserved communities. These patients include those who are HIV/AIDS-affected, medically compromised, mentally and physically handicapped, homeless and geriatric individuals. |
