KENNETH E. WOLF, PhD

Kenneth Wolf is the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Medicine at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science and is also a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Speech and Hearing from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his doctorate in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a certified diversity trainer and holds ASHA certification in Audiology and California Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing licenses. Dr. Wolf is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Dr. Wolf has received the Honors of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and has also been a recipient of the distinguished Dorothy Dreyer Award for Volunteerism from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Dr. Wolf has conducted research on auditory evoked potentials. He has also published and presented papers at the local, state, and national level on healthcare reform, healthcare financing and reimbursement, managed care, treatment outcomes, and legislative advocacy. His current interests are focused on evidence-based practice, medical education, faculty development, cultural competence and health disparities. Dr. Wolf is involved in many professional organizations including membership in the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery; American Academy of Audiology, and American Auditory Society. He has served on numerous ASHA Committees and Boards including the as first Coordinator of the Audiology and Hearing Science Assembly, and currently serves as on the Committee on Honors. He is a member of the AAMC Group on Educational Affairs – CME Section Steering Committee. He has also held leadership positions, including a recent term as President, in the Association for the Behavioral Sciences and Medical Education. Laurie Richlin is Director of the Office of Faculty Development at the Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. She previously was the Director of the Claremont Graduate University Preparing Future Faculty and Learning Communities Program. In addition, she is Director of the Lilly Conference on College and University Teaching - West, Executive Editor of the Journal on Excellence in College Teaching and the Learning Communities Journal, and President of the International Alliance of Teacher Scholars. She received her doctorate in higher education from the Claremont Graduate University, and her dissertation research on alternative doctoral scholarship received the national Gratzke award from the American Association of University Administrators. Her most recent publication is the book Blueprint for Learning: Constructing Courses to Facilitate, Assess, and Document Learning (Stylus, 2006). She has taught the courses "The Academic Career," "Teaching and Learning in Higher Education," "New Orleans: Legacy and Promise," "Journalism," "Career Development," capstone courses in Education, and writing and research methods courses in several disciplines. Richlin developed and implemented the Teaching Assistant Development Program at the University of California, Riverside, was "Educator in Residence" at four small colleges in Kentucky and Indiana under a Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) grant, and served as Director of the Office of Faculty Development at the University of Pittsburgh before returning to California. Edwin Lastimoza Cabatit is the Continuing Medical Education Administrator for Charles Drew University. He has over 8 years of project and program coordination and management experience in major non-profit as well as corporate environment. Mr. Cabatit earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and his MBA consecutively from University of Phoenix, online and Culver City campus extension. Mr. Cabatit brings a wealth of program coordination and organizational skills to the Office of Faculty Affairs and College of Medicine. Prior to joining Charles Drew University, he worked in the telecommunications industry as the Operations Coordinator for Crowne Castle International Corporation. He managed the coordination of the flow of legal documents in the acquisition of land, leases, and tower rights for the Southeastern market region consisting of multiple states. He also served as liaison between Crowne Castle and Cingular Wireless. Mr. Cabatit has been instrumental in two accreditation cycles for the Office of Continuing Medical Education for Charles Drew University. Jeonathan Rodriguez is the administrative assistant for the Office of Faculty Affairs at Charles Drew University. As a part of the Office of Faculty Affairs, Jeonathan supports the Office of Continuing Medical Education, Faculty Development and Academic Personnel. Mr. Rodriguez earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Whittier College. Before joining Charles Drew University, Mr. Rodriguez worked at the Whittier Museum and Whittier College acquiring extensive experience with both a nonprofit organization and educational institution. Jackie Beaupre is the Manager for the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. Since joining CDU in 2006, she has cross-trained in other departments within the University, including the Graduate Medical Education Office. She is currently collaborating with the Office of Faculty Affairs on dossier matters. SYLVIA MERINO, MBA, MPH

Sylvia Merino is Manager of the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. She has worked the last 30 years in health services and medical education environments, with over 15 years experience in planning, supporting and teaching at educational events for faculty and students. Prior to coming to CDU, she held a number of positions at UCLA, including Manager of Instructional Development at the Anderson School of Management, and the Head of the Technology and Learning Center at the Biomedical Library. Her current activities at CDU include developing new medical simulations and preparing faculty to utilize simulation in their courses. She also trains and supports faculty and staff in the use of educational and collaborative technologies such as videoconferencing and audience response systems, and programs such as BlackBoard, SharePoint, WeaveOnline, Exam Master and Survey Monkey.
