Department of Neuroscience mission is expressed in the research conducted by its faculty and students with an emphasis on the health issues most profoundly affecting the minority and economically disadvantaged citizens of our country. Our faculty realize that with new knowledge comes a keen sense of the potential and appreciation of how far we still need to progress to ensure that the mortality and morbidity of curable disease among our disadvantaged populations are within the range of society as a whole.

The Department is nationally and internationally recognized in epilepsy, stroke, and brain injury research. The following is a selective sample of some of the study projects conducted by our faculty:
