Dr. Dhawan received his M.D. Degree in 1972 from Amritsar Medical College, India. He completed his internship (1975-76) and Internal Medicine Residency Training (1976-78) at Cook County Hospital, Chicago. He received Fellowship Training in Infectious Diseases at Cook County Hospital (1978-79) and Charles Drew University (1979-80). He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine (1978, recertified 1992), Infectious Diseases (1980, recertified 1999), Infection Control and Epidemiology (1984; recertified, 1989, 1993, 1999), Geriatric Medicine (1992), and Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (1997). He holds fellowships in The American College of Physicians and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a member of The American Society of Microbiology and The Infectious Disease Society of America, and The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. His research interests include Infective Endocarditis. Dr. Dhawan has been associated with the Department of Internal Medicine for since 1981 and is currently the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases. |
