Dr. Arciaga is a board-certified Anesthesiologist and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. She has been a faculty member of the Department of Anesthesiology at King Drew Medical Center since 2002. In 2006, she helped design and implement simulation-based training program for the Charles Drew Medical School.  Her current project is on simulation instructor education. Patient safety and simulation are the focus of her research.

Dr. Arciaga is the Director of the Charles Drew Clinical Skill and Simulation Center, Chairman of the Simulation Center Advisory Committee, Assistant Dean for Medical Student Affairs (2006-present). She is an active simulation committee member of the Society for Education in Anesthesia and a peer reviewer for submissions of anesthesia simulation articles in MedEdPORTAL (AAMC) since 2008.

Since 2007, she had been involved as curriculum developer, facilitator and instructor for Simulation in Anesthesia Pharmacology for the Physician Assistant Students for PAS 331 Clinical Pharmacology CDU College of Science and Health, CDU Clinical and College Foundation for the third and fourth year medical students and Just-In-Time Simulation Training for medical students and physician assistant students.

Her presentations include Simulation Panel Discussion on “Incorporating Simulation in the Undergraduate Curriculum – Role of Simulation in Teaching Teamwork, Cultural Competence and Professionalism” at the AAMC Conference in Monterey, California April 2008 and Work In Progress abstract poster “How a New, Small, Underfunded Simulation Center Engaged a Community of Practice to Design and Implement a Model That Assesses Student Learning Objectives” at the Annual Society on Simulation in Healthcare Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on January 2010.
February of 2009, she helps as facilitator of Simulation FPLC/Faculty Professional Learning Community at the Charles Drew University.

She helps as an instructor for 2009 ASA Simulation Workshop – SEA Simulation-Based Training in Critical Incident Management and Teamwork, Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 2009.
