PGY 1 |
| |
The first postgraduate year is designed to provide an introduction and clinical foundation in Obstetrics and Gynecology and primary care. The intern experience includes: 3-4 months on the Obstetrical Service, 3-4 months on the Gynecological Service, 3 months of Family Medicine, 1 month of Ambulatory Internal Medicine, 1 month of Emergency Medicine and 1 month of Geriatrics. The PGY1 may do up to four of the six primary care rotations. |

PGY 2 |

In the second postgraduate year, the primary care requirements are completed. The second year resident is responsible for Emergency Room Consultations, High Risk Antepartum Service, and the Prenatal Diagnostic Center. For additional experience in both Obstetrics and Gynecology, a two month rotation is scheduled at Riverside County Medical Center, and a one month rotation
in oncology is scheduled at USC Medical Center and a one month rotation in gynecology at Cedars Sinai Hospital. |

PGY 3 |
| |
In the third postgraduate year the resident functions as team leader for Obstetrics and assumes greater operative and clinical responsibilities in Gynecology. Integrated into the Gynecology Rotation are subspecialty experiences: 3 months in Endocrine/Infertility and Urogynecology and
2 months in Oncology. For additional experience, a 3 month rotation at Kaiser—Harbor City Campus is scheduled. During this block, a wide variety of OB/GYN Surgical, Obstetrical and Ambulatory Experiences are obtained under the supervision of Kaiser Faculty members. The third year resident also does a one month rotation at USC Medical Center in oncology and a one month rotation in gynecology at Cedars Sinai Hospital. |

PGY 4 (Chief Resident Year) |

As the chief resident, a fourth year resident is expected to perform at an advanced level. The resident spends five months on the Gynecology Service and six months on Obstetrics. He or
she is the team leader and exercises greater autonomy on the clinical rotations in both Obstetrics and Gynecology. One chief resident is selected as the Executive Chief Resident
who has an administrative role. |
