Mohsen Bazargan, PhD
President, Academic Senate
Dept. of Family Medicine and Public Health Program
The Academic Senate would like to cordially welcome all of you to Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. Our university is a richly diverse institution blessed with the most dedicated faculty you will find, working together to develop and maintain the highest in quality academic programs for
As the Academic Senate, we are the proud voice for our faculty, serving as a cross-campus legislative body and as the official representative of the faculty to the President, EVP of Academic Affairs and Provost, and the Board of Trustees on matters relating to academic policies and programs. The Faculty Senate serves as advisors to the administration through the process of shared governance in insuring the success of the University’s mission in teaching, research and service.
Serving as Academic Senate President, I have learned that the three most important keys to the success of our institution are maintaining a culture of accountability, working together and exercising the principles of shared governance. These principles of accountability include setting clear cut expectations with oversight and consequences for not meeting those expectations. This accountability must be exercised within our institution at every level. We must all work towards this goal with administration and continue to hold each other as well as other members of the CDU community accountable for developing and maintaining a culture of excellence, focused on our mission of education, research, and service to the underserved. I promise to continue serving CDU including students and faculty to the best of my ability to enhance both our culture of accountability as well as our shared governance.
