Internal Auditor

Nate joined the staff of The Charles Drew University June 2005 as the University Auditor after spending the prior five years serving as a member of the California State University (CSU) Chancellor’s Office Internal Audit Department.  As a member of the Internal Audit Department he was responsible for managing operational and compliance audits of CSU campuses in addition to developing and facilitating the Internal Audit Department’s Control/Risk Self-Assessment Training program. 

From August 1996 through July 1999, Nate served as Director of Internal Audit for Pinkerton Security and Investigation, Inc. with responsibility for corporate, domestic and international financial, operational, and systems internal auditing.   Prior to working at Pinkerton, Nate was the Vice President, Internal Audit for Aurora National Life Assurance Company (formerly Executive Life Insurance Company) from September 1983 to August 1996.  During his time at Aurora he headed up the internal audit functions for the California, New York and Nebraska insurance operations.

Nate earned a BA degree in economics from Rutgers University in New Jersey and has completed post-graduate studies in financial statement accounting & analysis, management statistics, organizational behavior & development, and human resource management.  After obtaining his undergraduate degree, he went on to earn professional certifications as an internal auditor; information systems auditor; and, fraud examiner.  Nate is a member in good standing of the Institute of Internal Auditors; the Information Systems Audit and Control Association; and, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
