  • Minority students represent over 90 percent of our total enrollment.
  • African American student enrollment is more than double the national average (35 percent CDU compared to 12 percent nationally).
  • Women make up 65% of the student population

FACULTY

  • 5:1 Student  to Faculty Ratio
  • More than 38 percent of our full- and part-time faculty members are African American compared to 5 percent nationally.

CAMPUS

  • Includes biomedical library, central administration, and educational & learning resources, (basic, clinical and population-based research facilities)

DISTINCTION

  • Our College of Medicine (COM) is recognized by the Department of Education under Title III B as a Historically Black Graduate Institution.
  • The University is a charter member of the Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools, a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the health of Hispanic people through research initiatives, training opportunities, and academic development.

IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY

  • A California Wellness Foundation report estimated that one-third of all minority physicians, practicing in Los Angeles County, are graduates of the CDU medical school and/or residency training programs.
