On November 18, 2005, a Panel of the Substantive Change Committee of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the accrediting agency for Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, approved the University's proposal to create a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) Degree Program in Urban Public Health. The mission of the new program is to train public health professionals to promote research and services in disease prevention and health promotion for culturally diverse and medically underserved urban communities. On December 7th, the Substantive Change Committee selected Drew’s M.P.H. Proposal as an exemplar to share with other institutions to assist them in the proposal development process.
