Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science announces its 24th Annual Commencement Ceremony
 
     
  The Commencement Ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on the campus lawn of the Charles Drew University located at 1731 E. 120th Street Los Angeles, California 90059.  
     
  Assembly Member Karen Bass (Democrat - Los Angeles, 47th District), a former community organizer and now Assembly Speaker will serve as the Commencement Speaker.  
 


 
  “We are very proud that Speaker of the California Assembly, Ms Karen Bass, will be the Commencement Speaker, said Dr. Susan Kelly, President of CDU.  
     
  Speaker-Elect Bass, a Physician Assistant by training and long-term advocate for accessible, quality, affordable healthcare - is the first African American woman to have been elected to head any state or federal legislative body in United States history.’  
     
  Assemblymember Karen Bass (Democrat - Los Angeles, 47th District), a former community organizer will make national history when she officially as the 67th Assembly Speaker on May 15th - four months sooner than planned, with Fabian Nunez (Democrat - Los Angeles, 46th District) stepping down after four years.  
     
  A reception will follow immediately after the ceremony.
