**Register HERE to participate and raise funds for the
Charles Drew Mobile Testing Project**
Los Angeles, CA –On Sunday, May 20, 2012, Charles Drew Mobile Testing Project will participate in the 2nd Annual California AIDS Walk. The Charles Drew MobileTesting Program will be one of the five local nonprofits benefiting from the walk. We are requesting the support and participation of Charles Drew University staff, students, faculty and friends.
All funds raised through registered support for CDU will be donated to the Mobile Testing Project, which provides free HIV screening, counseling and referral services targeting medically underserved and at risk ethnic minority populations residing in Los AngelesCounty.
Last year, the Mobile Testing Program raised $6,000 though walker participation and donations, with an additional generous $4,000 from AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Let’s exceed our $6,000 mark this year!
The 3K walk is along the walking trails in Griffith Park adjacent to the Greek Theater starting at 2:00 p.m. This is a family affair with live music, carnival rides, entertainment stages and 25 of the most popular food trucks. At 6:00 p.m., walkers who have raised a minimum of $50 will be able to enter the Greek Theater to attend a free “70’s Boogie Night” concert with Magic Johnson as the emcee. In 2010, the first year of the California AIDS Walk over 6,000 people participated and up to 8,000 walkers are anticipated this year.
