DR. MOHSEN BAZARGAN ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE OF CHARLES R. DREW UNIVERSITY

 

 

The CDU community would like to congratulate Dr. Mohsen Bazargan, PhD on his election as president of the Academic Senate at Charles R. Drew University.

Dr. Bazargan is Professor and Director of Research at the Department of Family Medicine and Director of Research of the Public Health program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science. He is a Medical Sociologist with extensive training in the fields of social psychology, aging, research methodology, evaluation, and statistics. He is currently Assistant Editor for the Journal of the American Geriatric Society and an editorial board member of the Journal of Health Promotion Perspective. He is a member of the Los Angeles Net Advisory Council.

Dr. Bazargan received his PhD in Medical Sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has been a member of the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science faculty for almost the last 20 years and was previously on the faculty of the Xavier University at New Orleans Louisiana. Dr. Bazargan’s entire research-related activities are concentrated around the health status and health disparities experienced by racial/ethnic minorities and socio-economically disadvantaged populations.

Dr. Bazargan has authored 80 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and 210 abstracts. During the last ten years, he has been funded by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Administration for Children and Family (AHF), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to conduct research and interventional study among minority populations.
