General Funds

CDU Sustaining Fund
Gifts to the CDU Sustaining Fund are among the most important to the University. They help to provide student scholarships, outstanding faculty, up-to-date facilities, and to promote research excellence and community engagement. They also allow the University to distribute funds wherever there is the most need.

Mission Maker Campaign 
Gifts to the Annual Mission Maker Campaign help the University to fulfill its mission to conduct education, research and clinical services in the context of community engagement to train health professionals who promote wellness, provide care with excellence and compassion, and transform the health of underserved communities. Mission Maker donations are collected and distributed annually to special projects focused on student success, academic excellence, teaching and learning effectiveness, community engagement, and institutional/administrative effectiveness. click here for more information

Dr. M. Alfred Haynes Endowed Scholarship Fund 
The Dr. M. Alfred Haynes Endowed Scholarship Fund will be made available to students who have demonstrated excellence in community health leadership. click here for more information

Dr. Henry Williams Endowed Scholarship Fund
Named in honor of the first CDU Board of Trustees Chairman, the Dr. Henry S. Williams Endowed Scholarship Fund will support student scholarships. click here for more information

The Congressman Edward R. Roybal Endowed Scholarship Fund 
Named in honor of the late Congressman, The Congressman Edward R. Roybal Endowed Scholarship will provide scholarships for Latino students interested in the medical field. click here for more information

The Mrs. Lillian Harkless Mobley Presidential Endowed Scholarship Fund 
To honor the memory and contributions of Mrs. Lillian Harkless Mobley, Charles R.Drew University of Medicine and Science has partnered with The California Endowment on a challenge matching grant of up to $250,000. This endowment will ensure that the legacy of Mrs. Lillian Harkless Mobley lives on by awarding scholarships to CDU students who come from the very communities that Mrs. Mobley fought so hard to improve. click here for more information

The Albert Jerome Saunders, Sr. College of Science and Health Alumni Scholarship 
In honor of Albert J. Saunders, Sr., the College of Science and Health (COSH) Alumni Network established the Albert J. Saunders, Sr. College of Science and Health Alumni Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded annually to CDU students who demonstrate the potential of becoming a committed allied health professional; and are dedicated to building, shaping, and improving the overall health of underserved communities.

College of Medicine Alumni Association’s “1000 x $1000”

$1,000 donations made by 1000 donors. Donations toward the College of Medicine “1000 x $1000” fund will be used for activities and programs as designated by the College of Medicine Alumni Association, such as COM student scholarships, COM Alumni Association activities and programs; and COM General Fund.

Mervyn M. Dymally School of Nursing-Sallie Tucker Allen Cultural Diversity Endowed Chair 

Honors Dr. Sallie Tucker Allen, FAAN, Founder of the Association of Black Nursing Faculty Inc, and her lifelong interest in the dissemination of scholarly contributions of minority nurse academicians, researchers, clinicians, and executives. The endowed fund has been established to recruit and support nursing faculty who have an interest in cultural diversity, as well as, providing mentoring for minority scholars, to write grant proposals, conduct research and publish. click here for more information.

COMMUNITY GIVING

The Saturday Science Academy
The Saturday Science Academy is a hands-on science education program for students K-12 who have committed to seriously consider careers in health, science and technology. For more than a decade, the program has provided math and science instruction, tutoring, mentoring and other activities to improve performance in school, and to inspire students to embark on careers in science. The program is highly successful, with more than 90% of participants going on to attend college.
